Thai Chilling place in BKK

Favela

Operating hour: 8pm to 2am (Tue to Sat)

favela-2_1.jpg

Thonglor welcomes a Latino party spot.

The buzz: Thonglor continues its reign as Bangkok’s biggest nightlife district with this new late-opening glitzy nightclub dedicated to reggaeton music.

The decor: The name “favela”—referring to Brazil’s slums—may seem at odds with the glitzy venue, but the idea is to create a space that pays homage to the colorful party spirit of Rio. As a result, everything is fancy, sleek, white and glam—but, don’t worry, thanks to their lighting technology it won’t make you feel like you’re sitting at Kaizen Coffee. The owner and the bar manager are the only two people with the magic power to control the club’s lighting (via their phones) and they change the colors night by night. The space comprises of a big dance floor in the middle surrounded by VIP lounge areas—the larger table requires a minimum spend of B20,000-30,000, while the spend for a smaller table on the other side is B10,000; there are also standing booths, which only require you to purchase one bottle (roughly B3,000).
The music: They are very proud to be the first and only club in Bangkok dedicated to reggaeton music—a genre widely played across South America. They also throw in some hip-hop as well.
The drinks: Standard club drinks: a bottle of Jack Daniels will set you back B3,500, Smirnoff vodka B2,500, Tanqueray gin B3,000. If you’re not that hardcore, then a bottled beer costs B200 and classic cocktails are B270-350.
The crowd: Hip, cool Thai professionals in their twenties through to 40 somethings. Though this place opens till very late, the crowd usually starts showing up around 10:30pm.
Why we would come back: Although we might not start the night planning on going here, we’d gladly stumble in after a few drinks and let the next morning’s Facebook tags remind us how much fun we had attempting to grind to the music.

Inspired by Shakespeare's masterpiece of the same name, this Thonglor speakeasy has an expansive selection of G&T. It also pushes the boundaries of mixology with the use of creative techniques such as sous vide and the incorporation of savory ingredients.

The newest cocktail bar, Midsummer Night's Dream Bar, is a small project bar on the 2nd floor of Wynn Wood Florist. COVID-19 Causing the bar to be moved from the original plan Which, to be honest Until now, we do not know when the bar will reopen. So the bar decided to open with a menu of mocktails and mocktails from coffee. It's the first teaser before the day it can be fully opened again.

Midsummer Night's Dream Bar was formed by a group of friends who like to drink. Arm-Peeraphat Boonprasit, Jib-Nawinda Kaewdonhan and Kookkai-Pikul Chaijitwanichkul Wynn Wood Florist may be called the first place as an online florist. But when planning to open a storefront, this 4-storey building takes on the role of both a flower shop on the first floor and a gateway to a 3-storey cocktail bar. The style above is inspired by the play of the same name as the bar. by William Shakespeare

The third floor is planned to be a Gin Bar, which, in addition to stocking a wide variety of gin brands, also focuses on Perfect Serve, or gin-based cocktails paired with tonics. Other mixers and a garnish designed to match this gin the best. It's called not having to think too hard because the bar has already thought of it. But at the same time, no one will mix and match as well.

As for the 4th floor, the last floor, the intention is Private Room, which emphasizes a private atmosphere. which we will probably see all 3 of these parts in full again when the bar is officially back open For now, who misses drinking in front of the bar? You can order a glass of cocktails. Sip Thip and wait for the bar to open.

Somewhere to sing the night away.

The karaoke dive bar to end all karaoke dive bars is mushrooming all around town. The setup is basic: raucous bar downstairs, karaoke rooms upstairs—where you can snare a pretty affordable, three-hour all-you-can-drink and all-you-can-sing deal. We’ll plump for the original venue, on the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 53, where in our experience they’re most accommodating of non-Japanese.

Rabbit Hole

Operating hour: daily 6pm-1am

rh_web_photo_crop-07.jpg

Bangkok's Rabbit Hole is difficult to find, but once beyond its unassuming wooden door there lies three-storeys worth of cocktail bar to explore. It’s a combination of industrial design with touches of luxury, from exposed brickwork to a marble-topped bar and cabinets filled with bottles throughout. Beautifully presented cocktails are arranged by their characteristics, such as ‘Spirit Forward’ or ‘Refreshing’. From the ‘Savoury’ section, the ‘9.45’ comes recommended.

Thonglor's latest speakeasy bar breaks the monotony with its booze collection.

The buzz: Thonglor welcomes a new speakeasy, Rabbit Hole, which lurks behind a wooden door between soi 5 and 7. There’s no proper sign out front so look out for the space between Ainu Japanese bar and Ramen Ajisai.

The decor: Step inside this three-story shop-house and you’ll find a charming, dimly-lit, narrow bar with a huge rose gold booze rack behind a marble bar. With its plentiful bar seating, the first floor has all the atmosphere of a serious drinking establishment, while upstairs sees more quiet corners for group gatherings—and an extra bar, so you won’t be kept waiting too long. The slowly-changing lighting adds to the intimate mood.

The drinks: Two veteran bartenders from Diageo World Class stage—Suwincha “Chacha” Singsuwan and Naphat “Yod” Natchachon—man the space, cranking out classic drinks with technical twists and infusions. There’s plenty of variation on the spirit shelves, with a good number of Scotch, American and Japanese whiskeys available by the glass or bottle. Don’t miss their White Truffle Martini (B450), which they make using a process called “fat washing.” White truffle oil-infused Tanqueray Gin is chilled to -18 degress then served straight into a martini glass washed with dry vermouth. The oil is skimmed from the top before the drink is garnished with an olive. For something refreshing, go for the Mad Hatter (B350), a gin-based long drink that mixes together passion fruit, smoked tea, lime juice, syrup and a dash of absinthe, topped with soda and torch-dried orange for a smoky aftertaste. Queen of Heat (B350) reminds us of the classic White Lady cocktail: vodka, lotus syrup, lime juice and egg white garnished with lotus petal. Another spirit-forward drink that’s really crisp and smooth is Spade Gardener (B350), which uses apricot-infused rum with plum bitters and lime juice, served with a Chinese plum. They don’t serve any food, so be prepared before coming for a drink.

The music: Groovy house music with live DJs on Fri-Sat spinning sets that are a little more upbeat.

The crowd: Thonglor’s pretty faces, but also don’t be surprised if you meet a lot of bar owners and veteran mixologists.

Why you should care: Aside from the impressive decor, Chacha and Yod know how to make the most of the wall-to-wall booze, serving some seriously good cocktails.
